I think maybe you're thinking of the class of drugs called SSRI's (like Prozac) vs Statins. But those too are an overprescribed class with many side effects.

what I'm trying to get at is it's not the drugs we need, it's ourselves we need to change to become better people and deal with issues instead of taking drugs and blaming others.

I agree with your sentiment. One way we can deal with the issues is through prevention. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If we focused on nutrition, lifestyle, mental health hygiene and other preventative measures our burden of chronic disease would diminish enormously.
