SteemSTEM Distilled #41
Welcome to the 41st issue of SteemSTEM Distilled, a bi-weekly curation effort by the members of the @steemstem team.
SteemSTEM is a community driven project which seeks to promote well-written and informative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics posts on Steemit. The project involves curating STEM-related posts through upvoting, resteeming, offering constructive feedback, supporting scientific contests, and other related activities.
For more details, a recent update on the steemSTEM can be found here, and a not so recent one there. Moreover, if you ask yourself about what it means to be part of steemSTEM, please check here.
Our team scours the platform for original and quality content.
After working through thousands (literally!) of STEM-related posts and upvoting more than 150 that we deemed to be worthy, we proudly present you our top 6 handpicked choices for this Monday-Wednesday period.
Monday
Understanding Brain Aging
A post by @dysfunctional on brain aging. When is a brain considered fully developed? When does deterioration begin and what can we do to keep our brains "in shape"? Well, @dysfunctional can give you a pretty good idea.
Excessive eating and psychology
A simple explanation on what hunger is, how it works and how we can control it. Read this beautiful post by @dedicatedguy to learn why you want eat even when your stomach does not seem to ask for it.

Debunk-Tuesday – Guns Don’t Kill People, But Milk Does
Milk, a nutritious food most of us consider necessary for a healthy and balanced diet. But is it? Read what @egotheist has written about it on his Debunk-Tuesday post.
Classical Molecular Dynamics Series [Part - 4a]: Let us setup a simulation and run it!
Are you interested in molecular dynamics? Do you want to watch a simulation by @dexterdev and learn how to create your own using NAMD? Then read this post!

23andMe Genetic Testing - What Is My Neanderthal Percentage?
The company 23AndMe offers its clients genetic testing services and @procrastilearner explains very well what "products" are available. Do you think that we are entering a "Gataca" era? Read this post and decide for yourself.
A Day with Microbial Taxonomist
A new user has just made his first steemstem post and it was really good. Meet @micro24 and read what being a microbial taxonomist means.
For the sake of transparency we feel we need to clarify how our nomination process works; each issue is compiled by certain members of the SteemSTEM community. This mid-week's editorial team was comprised of @ruth-girl.
The editorial team chooses their favorite posts for the week and each issue is the result of their joined effort. In order to keep the process fair, posts written by the editorial team are excluded from the nomination process.
Don't be discouraged if you didn't make it on this issue. The competition is harsh and there is always a next time :)
During the last two weeks, steemstem supported with more than a (possibly split) full vote the following authors:
@abigail-dantes, @adetola, @alexdory, @alexs1320, @anaestrada12, @arrrados, @carloserp-2000, @chloroform, @churchboy, @davidrhodes124, @dedicatedguy, @gra, @greenrun, @highonthehog, @iamphysical, @itastem, @joseleogon, @kingabesh, @lamouthe, @lemouth, @lordneroo, @mobbs, @mountain.phil28, @mountainwashere, @mrbreeziewrites, @pangoli, @procrastilearner, @rscalabrini, @ruth-girl, @sakura1012, @samminator, @scienceangel, @sco, @sooflauschig, @soulesque, @spaghettiscience, @temitayo-pelumi, @terrylovejoy, @tomastonyperez, @valth, @whileponderin, @zija2022
We are expecting them to strongly engage the community in return :)

All curation rewards earned will be used to fund @steemstem project functioning and activities.
See you all next Monday!
I wrote a pretty lengthy essay about Occupational/Organizational Psychology here
https://steemit.com/steemstem/@ianmcg/what-is-industrial-organizational-psychology
Once again, congratulations to all authors, featured and non!
We love seeing your work! :)
Thank you for your efforts!! Great job!
Hehe, the authors did a great job indeed :P
You too!
We have to thank you :)
Oh! Good job must be promoted! :D
Well
Am.part of the non again 😢😢... Will keep working because there is always a next time
@ruth-girl and her amazing selection.... Congratulations to all the authors
Hey, don't be discouraged! I am sure your time will come :)
Yea.... I know right
The previous distilled appeared in advance, this one is late ;)
Just to keep it "balanced" :P
Exactly! The average mark matters... ;)
or more unbalanced :)
or somewhere in between :)
1/sqrt{2} [ |balanced> + |un-balanced> ] ?
It is what it is! :P
that is a good summary :D
Its great to see a new face get nominated and congrats to everyone else!
New entries need a warm welcome to stay motivated, don't you think? ;)
Thank you @dexterdev for the great post (great article...) and sorry I missed the first 3 parts, 3 months ago :'(
Missing articles is a good sign, it means that there are many great posts.
But it's a pity that some valuable content (don't laugh!) becomes hidden after several days.
@alexs1320 : Actually this particular series was paused due to less number of audience. I am happy that there are people who are interested in this. You have missed nothing. Just go and see those old posts. I will keep on doing MD posts. By the way, what is your specialization?
Not really. My main profession is EPR spectroscopy, followed by chemometrics. As the "second league": fluorescence, FTIR and image analysis. And let's say that I have some basic knowledge in: NMR/MRI and simulations
I guess this is life :)
It's tough, man :( It's tough...
That's awesome projects and in my opinion it's definitely going to help the authors and it will boost their work and in turn support always drive people to do more hard work because these type of support gives more exposure and this exposure can give more opportunities of growth from different people and this way authors possibly can achieve good amount of exposure on this platform. Thanks for sharing and keep doing the great work. Wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
This is exactly what we try to do for almost two years! Thanks for passing by! ;)
That's really great to hear and i don't post in the field of science, mathematics, technology and engineering but i post in the sections of Quote Series Videos, Smart Phone Photography, Positive Words Series, Original Poetry and Quote Series Writing and post one section daily. Kindly requesting you to visit my blog to have one look, if you think my work is producing any value then you can showcase your support otherwise kindly ignore it. Thank you. 🙂
Strong psychology monday! Boy, I have to come back :D
Psychology is on the rise these days ;)
😍
I am wondering why :D
❤️
Hello you!
I have just been given $1000 as sp for a week off someone! - (i know who it is). I feel all responsible - what would you say (as advice) - just vote as i normally do?
I don't want to abuse the trust given to me...
....oh you might find this interesting..
https://steemit.com/blog/@lucylin/great-minds-discuss-ideas-average-minds-discuss-events-and-small-minds-discuss-people
Oh! How wonderful @lucylin :) congrats !!
I am glad to hear you feel responsible :D
As well as continuing to vote as normal, you can support an extra tag this week! You can show some love to the steemstem tag too :P Besides steemstem, I normally browse writing, psychology, art, life, introducingyourself, philosophy and science. I vote on content produced by minnows, dolphins and whales. As long as it is original and constructive I upvote it (sometimes it is not even something that I particularity like!). Oh, I am quite diligent with checking whether the content has been plagiarized or not, and mostly use this Plagirism Check.
The title in the link you left me here sounds very, very interesting! I am keen to have a look at it.
Ps: How is that situation of yours going? Have you found a solution for it? I wish you the best of luck with it!
'tis a new, strange feeling.... lol
Thanks for that, I don't wanna upvote plagiarism! (this is a link that takes me away from steemit ?- I've heard all about those dodgy links ....😂😂)
Not at easy as first thought, but hey ho, that's life. Thank you though, it will be fine.
I'll sort something.
My newfound responsibility on here with this Sp is far more stressful!
( I'll happily squander my own money - but not when someone gives me the responsibility of theirs! - even though it's not money, if you see what I mean)
(I have to work out this slider thing for vote power - sorry if I don't vote you enough...)
You do @saunter!
Oh, you're not posting that frequently too! Anyway, I'll be back now that I settled a little bit in Iceland :>
What? A feature? Thanks! What a great surprise!
Congrats to each rewarded author and gratitude to all the readers and curators!
Ruth-girl and the SteemSTEM team are on fire again. Not a surprise!
Cheers!
Sooner or later everybody gets a feature for their good work! ;)
True. But it has been around two months since my last feature and this one came as a pleasant surprise. Thanks!
We will need to find some surprize for you then ^^
You are always welcome to do that my friend :)
Seems like steemSTEM has got a new logo. I love the words "Facts over fiction".
Big congrats to all the featured authors and all those that got voted.
Also, nice one by team @ruth-girl :D
@elvisxx71 gets credit for this beautiful logo!
