Thanks for sharing this information. Like what @abigail-dantes said I got an impression that once a metastatic neoplasm in the brain is detected there is hardly any hope for the patient. I am also guessing that by the time it is symptomatic it might already be in later stages like in most metastatic diseases. Are there any success stories too around curing the condition? Also, a bit hyperbolic question for this is more related to my field would be - are there any current immunotherapy options for metastatic brain tumors? What are the major limitations for such therapies, if any?
Hello @scienceblocks to be honest is very difficult to cure this type of disease not to say impossible, everything depends on how advanced this disease. Although if the disease is diagnosed early and with proper treatment brain metastases can respond positively to therapies and for that reason can help relieve symptoms, slow tumor growth and lengthen life. Treatment, as we know, depends on the size, number, and location of the tumors, as well as the signs and symptoms of the patient.
I am also aware that some drugs show a reduction in tumor growth. Surgery is always one of the best options to remove them. Radiation therapy is another option.
There are no limitations, as long as the diagnosis occurs at a time when doctors can work to eliminate the tumor is ideal. In most cases this is not the case.
In my country people already arrive in a phase of great deterioration and it is too late to save them, we only help to prolong their life a few months more.
