Thumbs up from the molecular biologist for this one! My biggest struggle has always been to explain these stuff in simple and understandable way to people who do not have formal education in biology/biochemistry/etc., but you obviously do not have that problem :)
It takes some practice, have you ever taught undergraduates? Like freshmen? I generally try to talk about things how I would during say office hours with a freshman science student. Try to make it relate-able at least a little bit, while still maintaining the core facts.
