How Did Dinosaurs Become Extinct

Dinosaurs are creatures that existed millions of years ago. They are a wonder to nature and scientists have over the years painstakingly committed resources, energy and time to studying this no longer existent species.

Dinosaurs are special class of reptiles belonging to phylum chordata. They are characterised by their large body structure. Recently, a study shows that a particular specie of Dinosaurs were the largest mammals to walk on land. "LONG-NECKED DINOSAURS WERE the largest animals that ever walked on land. Moving cathedrals of sinew and bone, these plant-eating giants—called sauropods—could stretch up to 120 feet from head to tail. At their heaviest, they weighed a staggering 70 tons."source

So How Did They Become A Lost Specie?

Well, it's a classic feeling to see these creatures in science-fiction movies and other comics that relates to science and prehistoric events. But one thing that have become quite a very tough puzzle for scientists and paleontologists to fix is How did Dinosaurs become extinct?

On the subject of Dinosaurs' extinction, Bonnie Sachatello-SawyerDon and Liza Charlesworth in their article had this to say: "Lately, dinosaur extinction theories have been the subject of much debate and controversy. A recent explanation, supported by many scientists, suggests that dinosaurs died out soon after a huge meteorite crashed to Earth near the Gulf of Mexico. A giant meteorite, they reason, could have landed with an impact that kicked up enough dust and debris to block out sunlight for a long time — leading to a deadly chain of events. Without the sun, all the plants died; without the plants, all the plant-eaters died; and without the plant-eaters, all the meat-eaters died. Sounds reasonable."reference
But this theory has been flawed by the inability of paleontologists to find fossils of dinosaurs in rocks where they believe this to have happened.

Generally, scientists and paleontologists have come to a common ground for the moment as to what the "probable" cause of dinosaurs' extinction could be. They believe that the following could have led to their extinction.

  1. Ash and gases from volcanic eruption and volcanoes.
  2. A large meteorite might have hit the earth and led to their demise as a result of climatic change
  3. Change in the food chain
  4. Epedemic might have also caused it.

Whichever the case is, one thing remains true, we are yet to unfold the real cause of the complete demise of a specie of wonderful creatures as scientists and paleontologists are divided in their conclusions.
