RE: Surviving the Holidays. Psychology Christmas Special

in #steemstem6 years ago

What are holidays? I don't know this term (I will actually work during the next weeks as I am just back from a break under the sun).

More seriously, I would like to stress that family time is important, this is true. but quality family time is even more important. And to me, this includes children too. Why would only family time with children being independent be the only good option? The rest (gifts and company)... who cares if quality family time is there?

Ooooh, nice! I am a bit envious now :D

No, it is not the only option, but one of the options. There are many parents who would like to have some time on their own during the holidays and what I am trying to say is that it is OK. No need for guilty feelings :)

Quality time does matter. I was thinking of writing a paragraph about it but I found that it is a broad subject and left it for some other time. A fun thing that I run over during the research for this article was a study which shows that children and parents have different definitions of what quality family time is :) Hopefully, I will write a post about it in the near future :)

This is our first Christmas with our little son. We just realized that we bought everyone a present except him. He is 10 months now and I think he wouldn't mind as long as he gets to unwrap the boxes and eat the paper (if no one is looking) :D

Have a wonderful family time, @lemouth!

True, this is also OK. It is probably a matter of taste. In our case, after a heavy semester, we like to have time the four of us together.

There is probably not a unique definition of it, but a plethora of very subjective definitions of it. The only way to know whether the time is of quality or not is to ask to those we are spending time with. They are the best judges ^^

I am looking forward to read your articles on this topic!

He may just be happy just to unwrap something, whatever is the something. Our kids had more fun in unwrapping than with the toy itself, at least during the first half a minute :D

I hope you will have a very nice Xmas time together!
