Chemistry is the science that studies the composition, structure, and properties of matter as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions and their relationship with energy. Chemistry is part of our life because it is present in all the fundamental aspects of our daily life (what we do every day, voluntarily or involuntarily). The variety and quality of personal hygiene products, canned food, computer circuits and the television screen, the colors of houses, the cold of the refrigerator and provides us with energy that is produced by different chemical reactions within our cells. We use this energy to run, play, study and work, among other activities, all thanks to the study of chemistry.

Chemistry contributes in an essential way, through pharmaceutical products, in the fight against diseases and in the improvement of the quality of life up to very advanced ages. This revolution in the improvement of human health has contributed, among others, two groups of medicines: antibiotics, which have revolutionized the cure of infections caused by microorganisms, and vaccines, which have been in the first line of defense against epidemics, contagious diseases, and foreseeable pathologies.
