Ampicillin is not a first line treatment for otitis but Tunde's Mum instructed her son to take a leftover antibiotics prescribed for someone else.
Otitis at the onset, could be treated with mere analgesics. Antibiotics is only required after complications.
The case of Tunde is a typical example of irrational use of antibiotics.
