# AN EXTRAORDINARY ENCOUNTER IN PHYSICS(A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE)

It was about 6 years ago when I was studying in high school. Our physics professor had just finished relative motion topic in our class. He taught us how and in what direction we should hold our umbrella while walking in rain?

Being a physics enthusiast I always want to dive a bit deep than other. Also I find physics more practical than any other subjects. It is deeply connected with our daily life.
In fact what we see as physical world around us can be best explained by the laws of Physics.

RELATIVE MOTION

Relative motion is the calculation of the motion of an object with regard to some other moving object. Thus, the motion is not calculated with reference to the earth, but is the velocity of the object in reference to the other moving object as if it were in a static state. For example, a person sitting in an airplane is at zero velocity relative to the airplane, but is moving at the same velocity as the airplane with respect to the ground.

LETS RETURN TO MY STORY

It was the rainy season, people used to carry umbrella everywhere. What I saw was extraordinary. I saw every person holding umbrella in different direction. People going in different direction have directed their umbrella in different direction.
One thing hit me there, say at an instant ‘T’ three persons A,B,C passes a point P through side by side. A is at rest, B is moving east and C to west. A person at coffee shop watching three person will wonder why 3 person holding umbrella in 3 directions at same place?

After an instant T when all 3 are at place P.

For A the rain seems to fall vertically downward, for B it seems to coming from west and for C rains appears to come from east direction though literally they are at same place/point at that instant T.

Conclusion Part

It thrilled me. Actually what is reality? From what direction the rain was falling? The answer is, from every direction and the rain fits according to your motion if you move towards east it appears to come from east, if you move toward west it appears to come from west. (It’s bit like a concept of static friction which fits itself according to force applied to balance counter force as long the applied force is less than static friction.)

We can see,Even the everyday realities are mesmerizing .Really the physics is the most wonderful thing I learnt in my life. It has given me a different eyes to seek same world.
