I used to always sleep with my eyes opened as a child and my brothers used to tease me alot. As i grew older it became a habit 4 me to always close my eyes tightly be4 i start sleeping. Over time tgey stopped teasing me.
Sorry for the shaming you experienced from the condition. Try to confirm if it doesn't get open after you've slept off.
