Experience the Unexperienceable | innerGlitch
When we picture a solid in our mind, we think about something strong like a rock or impenetrable like a wall made out of steel or maybe materials to build like bricks.
Solidity is one of the four classical state of matter (there are actually more states of matter) in which molecules, and therefore atoms, are packed toghter.
So, stating that an iron bar is made by almost empty space would be madness, wouldn’t it?
Actually no, atoms are almost all empty space.
To picture how an atom actually is, imagine a small ball as the nucleus inside the center of a football stadium which, in this example, represents the entire atom.
If that doesn’t melt your brain for a moment, read it again because it means you didn’t understand it.
As humans, we have developed a sense of reality based on the scale of our experience and our intuition, or common sense, struggles to cope with the micro and the macro world because we are not used to experience what’s beyond the human scale.
Quantum physics nor Einstein’s relativity are intuitive, but they are real.
We can imagine what it is like for an object to travel at 300km/h, it is a comprehensible speed to imagine. But if someone asks us to imagine an object traveling at 299 792 458 m/s , aka the speed of light, I’m sure every one of us would be not able to imagine such speed.
Our brain creates a model of the world based on the experiences it is subjected to.
So a question rises.
Is it possible to train our brain in order to cope naturally with quantum and macro phenomena?
Giving an answer to this question is not an easy task, but I’m building up a series of experiments thanks to district I created on Decentraland (a VR Platform stored on IPFS ).
As I wrote on this post, VR and 3D simulations will help every one to understand and visualize these strage physics phenomena.
Learning through experience is the most effective educational tool and VR opens the frontiers to possibilities we didn't have access to until few months ago.
