The Cardinals are traveling to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to face the San Francisco 49ers this week in a prime time matchup on Thursday Night. Each team this year has a record of 1-3 and both are looking to come out on top this Thursday but only one will. Let’s get into this synopsis so you can decide who you think will win!

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals were projected to be a top-tier team this year but their record doesn’t reflect on their projection. Being at 1-3 and tied for last place in the division, this isn’t a great start to the year whatsoever.

The Cardinals coach, Bruce Arians, told reporters that the quarterback was at the team's facility Tuesday, but remains in concussion protocol and is still taking tests. Palmer suffered the concussion in the fourth quarter of Arizona's Week 4 loss to the Rams and backup quarterback, Drew Stanton, threw 2 interceptions in a short relief appearance.

Update: Carson Palmer has been ruled out for this game.

Larry Fitzgerald, the veteran who is in his final year in the NFL… Ranks 5th in the NFL for receiving touchdowns at 3 and has 280 receiving yards to go along with it. Fitzgerald is having a stellar year being that he is a 33 year old wide receiver and still in the top 10 NFL rankings in many categories!

John Brown, the other ”star” wide receiver who had an absolute break-out season last year, looks to carry the offense down the field. John has a total of 236 yards and has set up many of touchdowns this year; although he doesn’t have any, this week could be the week where he scores 1 or 2 or maybe even 3!

Arizona’s defense has been off to an above average start to the season. The Cardinal’s rank 8th best in the league in fewest yards per game at 313.5 YPG; they also rank 4th best in the league picking off 5 passes already through 4 games! Lastly, the Cardinals rank 9th best in the league allowing 4 rushing touchdowns. Overall the ”Birds” defense is looking pretty good this year!

The ”Birds” field goal kicker, Chandler Cantanzaro, has complete 5/6 field goals which is equivalent to an 83% field goal completion rate. To add on to the field goals, Chandler also has made 9/10 PAT’s. (Points after touchdown)

San Francisco 49ers

The ”9ers” backup quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, been the only top headline the 49ers received thus far. Unless you live out of the United States, you should know what is going on with Kaepernick as he has been on the news constantly. With the 49ers having the longest odds of making the playoffs this year, they are not playing for much at all.

Now, the 49ers starting quarterback, Blaine Gabbert, possibly the worst quarterback in the NFL at the moment faces a tough defense Thursday. A lot of NFL fans think the 49ers should give Kaepernick a shot at the starting quarterback spot again this year, as they have nothing to loose and to see if all the talk off of the field backs up his actions on the field. But, who knows? Maybe they will give him the start this Thursday and I tell you what, that would make this game 10x more fun to watch!

The only above average player on the whole team this year is the running back, Carlos Hyde. Hyde is in his 3rd year in the NFL and is having the best year of his career. Through 4 games, Hyde has more touchdowns (5) than all of the other previous years and he is ranked 2nd in the league for most touchdowns! Carlos has really shown us his potential this year and maybe he will continue to show it against the Cardinals!

The 49ers have the worst receivers in the NFL with names you probably have never heard of before including: Jeremy Kerley, Garrett Celek, and Quinton Patton. Kerley has the most receiving yards on the whole entire team at 202; this just proves how terrible the ”9ers” offense really is. That’s all I got to say about this embarrassing team.

San Francisco’s defense isn’t bad this year, surprisingly. The 49ers rank 15th best in rushing touchdowns allowing 3 and rank 14th best in receiving yards only allowing 998 total. These stats/ranking aren’t the best and they are not the worst either.

Phil Dawson, the longtime kicker, has perfected his PAT’s this year thus far at 10/10 and has made ⅘ FG’s. I’d expect Phil to keep up the good work and not miss many more FG’s this year as he is a Pro Bowler. ;)

• Only participants with a Reputation of 35 or more will qualify to earn SP rewards, but non-qualifiers can still vote and comment in support of the redistribution initiative.
