Overview of the 2018 Steem Silver Round

A little less than a month ago the pre-sale began for the 2018 Steem Silver Round. Initially, we explored the idea of having a 3d die for the obverse, but the mint steered us away from that after they saw the design that @welshstacker created. By the way, the mint absolutely loves the design he created! Thank you to everyone that helped in selecting the design and making improvements to it.

The rounds are only available during the pre-order unless there are some left over after they have all been shipped out. When the 2018 Steem Silver Round was announced, we decided to initially mint 2500 of the rounds since there was so much demand for the 2017 Steem Silver Round on the secondary market. The 2017 Steem Silver Round saw 1500 rounds get gobbled up prior to the fabrication.

The first few days of the pre-sale started out with a bang and there were nearly 500 rounds sold in the first three days. If this trend were to have continued, we would have sold out around this time. Unfortunately, the buying slowed down somewhat dramatically and the orders continued sporadically. To date, we have had over 150 orders for the 2018 Steem Silver Round, which is a massive increase from last year. Although, the number of orders was much larger compared to last year, the quantity per order was significantly less. The prices of crypto have been extremely volatile in the last six months and this could be partially to blame.

Official Mintage Update

After discussing with a few others about whether to decrease the mintage or keep it the same, we have decided to decrease the mintage to 1500 rounds, which is the same as last years mintage. The main deciding factor in doing this was to be able to get the rounds in your hands as quickly as possible.

Remaining Stock

There are still a limited number of 2018 Steem Silver Rounds that are available for purchase. Once they are sold out, the rounds will only be available on the secondary market.

COA Updates

If you purchased a COA above 1500, please contact me as there are a few options:

• Choose a different number that is below 1500 and available. The list of available COA's is here.
• Receive a refund (in Steem) for the COA you paid for.
• Receive a refund (Steem or PayPal) for the entire order if you no longer want to purchase the round. There may be fees associated with this.

Updates from the Mint

As of Friday morning we locked in the remaining 500 ounces of silver with the mint and they are going to be creating the die over the next week or so. This gives us an estimated 4-5 weeks before the rounds are shipped out. We will continue to provide updates as we work closely with the mint.
