Coins, bank notes, gold, silver and other precious metals have played a huge role in shaping the stories of our lives. But its not just the intrinsic value of an item that makes it important or historic. New technologies, new designs, an error in the making or just sheer beauty can all compound to make an item irreplaceable and iconic.

In this series of posts, ill cover some of the coins and items that first got me stuck in the downward spiral of what is affectionately known as "stacking" and share with you fine folks the significance and role theyve played in history.

The shape of the 50 pence made it the ideal canvas for special commemorative designs, and over 70 events, anniversaries and individuals have been celebrated on circulating 50 pence pieces. The famous 2009 Kew Gardens 50p remains the most coveted coin in circulation, with a mintage of just 210,000. Released in 2009 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of London’s Kew Gardens, its incredibly low mintage amd historical significance makes this specific coin turning up in change veery profitable. As the mintage numbers were so low, many collectors removed the coins from circulation when found. [SOURCE](www.royalmint.com)

The 2009 Kew Gardens 50p is a commemorative coin issued by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom to mark the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. It features the famous Chinese Pagoda at Kew Gardens, along with the dates "1759" and "2009" and the word "Kew" at the bottom.

The Kew Gardens 50p is considered to be one of the rarest and most valuable coins in circulation in the UK, with a mintage of just 210,000. This low mintage, combined with the popularity of coin collecting, has made the Kew Gardens 50p a sought-after coin among collectors. Its rarity has also contributed to its value, with some recent examples selling for several hundred pounds or more.

Thats not a bad little return on a circulating coin valued at just £0.50.....

@sahidclement left a very well thought out comment on a previous post i wrote.

This post was directly made for specific people who can afford, or can invest in something as huge as precious metals(gold, silver, etc).
But you didn't add those that can not afford to get this things, those that can't even afford 3 squal meal a day.
In conclusion
Not everyone we see on the street can afford what what we can.
Is their any plan for us ?
Asking a question on behalf of those that can't afford, Thank you.

Whilst i had planned to cover this in much more depth in a future blog, starting by collecting your own countries currency and trading them out for a profit, is a great way to start. So whilst i completely agree that disposable income is a luxury i take for granted, there are small steps you can do to get you started down the precious metals path

Nice looking coin, and it is an odd shape. Not sure I am a fan of when mints release a very limited number of coins into circulation and you have to get them that way. I think we did something like that, and it was really hard to get a rough looking circulated coin vs a mint state version.
