Silver Coin - Russian Grivennik, 1790 | Empress Catherine the Great
This is a coin I found in my family's old house basement a couple of years back. I guess this explains why most of it is unrecognizable and damaged. Anyway I still managed to see a few details. When I later researched I found out that it's a silver coin, 1 Grivennik from 1790. Currency used in the Russian Empire. From 1762 to 1796, Empress Catherine the Great or also known as Empress Catherine II was ruling the Russian Empire. The country's longest-ruling female leader!
The coin is pierced and it has a red thread through it. And probably it is just me but I have a feeling that the thread was soaked in blood because the nuance is very similar but again that's just my fantasy I guess. Sadly, we will never know the truth...
