To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the kookaburra in 2015, Perth Mint released the first ever 5oz high relief chunky shiny concave kookaburra. The 2015 design was a copy of the original 1990 with Mr Kookaburra sat on a tree stump surrounded by eucalyptus leaves and has the dates 1990-2015. The coin has whats her face on the other side but sadly my camera would never be able to photograph the beauty.
The 2016 design depicts our loveable kookaburra sat on a fence post looking over at a bare twig tree, there is barbed wire round the post and it makes for quite a smart design. I didnt buy the 2017 5oz and not sure if i will but i do like the 2018 design and might be tempted to carry on with this set. I have been playing with my camera and managed to get both coins under different lights just to show off how amazing silver can look even with a cheap camera.
i really like the barbed wire on the 2016, i think it makes the design so much better, like with the spiderweb on the 2008, im not liking the new design at all tho
I do like the new kook, i do think the bird should have been a touch smaller and the moon also a bit smaller but we were overdue a flying kook, will look very nice in 5oz ;)
Cheers goldkey, thanks i am trying to get good pics of my coins, im taking hundreds to get the images i want to put on my posts and only using an old i phone
