So Let's talk Shutdown

Okay, so I now have been a tax paying adult through two shutdowns. One when I was in the Navy in 2013, and now this one. There's a big difference between the two of them for me though. The first one I had to go to work. The boat still needed to be watched and the country still needed to be defended. The military doesn't get to stop coming to work, it's just the civilian support staff that stays home. So all the shipyard guys, some of the food service people, and some of the gate guards in Pearl Harbor got an unpaid leave of absence while some shitbrains in D.C. try to pull their brains out of their shitholes. Below is an accurate representation of Congress:

So some parks shut down and some vacations are ruined, because the government doesn't care about it's people. But we got through it and life goes on.

Well, not exactly... You see 2013 set a dangerous precedent for Congress. They realized that they can use this as a tool for political maneuvering. And here we are five years later with the same shitbrains pulling the same shitty tactic. But this time feels different. It feels like it's business as usual. It feels like no one cares nearly as much as they did in 2013, and that's the scary part. The problem with America is our money is only as good as our word. We don't have collateral to give our creditors except our word and the might of the US military daring someone to come get what we owe them.

Eventually people are going to get annoyed with this situation and America is going to be cut out of the game in the future. Now I'm not a gloom and doom guy. America is still the most important country in the world, and that's not going to change anytime soon. But, we are going to have to hold our representatives accountable for their actions. Personally, I believe that if the government can't do one of their most basic jobs then they shouldn't be able to run for government position in the future. Since Congress makes the rules for their own job and have no one to hold them accountable besides us as the people, that will never happen.

Luckily the USPS is still running because it doesn't rely on government funding for all of it's income, so the silver I bought from Provident Metals should still get to my house. If only other government agencies didn't have unlimited funds and had to make decisions to keep the doors open. Maybe they wouldn't shut down either...

Until that day keep stacking. Maybe plant some food this spring or get a pig to feed yourself. You never know what the Shitbrains are going to ruin next...
