1943 , 1942 South African shillings
So the 1943 shillings is abit rubbed up more than the 1942. Though I must say that the 1942 looks really incredible and still detailed, as well as it’s toning. The minatge of the 1943 is 4 817 999 where as the mintage of the 1942 is 3 867 000.. The botn consist of 0.800 silver and weigh 5.6grams.
The monarch on the coin is the handsome man him self King George VI. On the reverse shows a female figure leaning on a anchor.
The toning on this 1942 looks so beautiful, it’s even making me doubt it’s authentication to be honest.. but I’m really in,love with how this coin stands out with its eye appeal.
I took a close up of the reverse to show the detail that it has, every stroke still standing strong and visible. My South African silver coin game is going strong 💪.. really happy with this purchase from eBay.
~Thank you for reading ladies and gentlemen~
These look great. Really nice.
Thank you buddy 💪😁
Do you know why the motif is a woman with an anchor? Anything about South African history?
A woman holding an anchor is traditionally a symbol for the Judeo-Christian value of Hope. There are several styles of Conder Tokens that use this symbol as well.
Thanks.
