The reports are that Trump signed Debt Ceiling increase on Friday, tied to Hurricane relief too. Kicked the can down the road again. This allowed the treasury to borrow and go hog wild with borrowing.
The debt clock was previously slowing based on fears of the debt ceiling and Trump budget plans.
To me, Trump signed increase and sided with Democrats on the deal. This is the actual cause for huge increase. The velocity of borrowing will increase, the speed of the debt clock will be faster also.
