RE: National state of disaster officially declared in South Africa - restrictions imposed due to CoronaVirus
Hey @chekohler,
Well... the number of new cases in China and South Korea are already on the decrease... so hopefully it's not all doom & gloom as most of the media will have us believe. ... I really hope this guy (https://www.calcalistech.com/ctech/articles/0,7340,L-3800632,00.html) is onto something.
Are his numbers right? (<20% will/can actually get it? that part sounds dodge to me), or is it the result of countries taking action that's limited the spread?
Either way: Here in South Africa we're only just getting started, and it's gonna get a lot worse before it can starts getting. The "No gatherings of 100 or more people" has pretty much left me jobless for the next month or 3 (2/3rds of my events have already cancelled, and expecting the rest to do so in the next day or two)... so I'm definitely hoping for a speedy (positive) outcome.
FWIW: The folks that are panic buying are probably causing an even bigger problem... all this unnecessary gathering in large groups in shopping centres and fondling/fighting each other... The photos circulating social media today are just insane. If they didn't have corona virus before their shopping (aka mass gatherings), they probably do now :-( Ai Ai Ai.
Well... Like you say... The next 2 weeks will be make or break for us.

Yeah I agree man, even though I work on the internet, a large percentage of south africans do their internet browsing at work on the jobs time so we're seeing a steady decline in website visits and eCommerce sales as well. People just buying essentials and preparing.
I hope its resolved soon, we can scarce afford to have another drama with the eskomplications we already having.
