zhu' Movie Review: Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
"Alita: Battle Angel" is based on the manga series "Battle Angel Alita" by Japanese cartoonist Yukito Kishiro. The story of the film is set in the 26th century. It tells the story of the mechanical girl, who is in the end of the world and is lucky to be born again, stroll on the journey of exploring the truth. In the world of the 26th century, the superiors lived in a space station called Sauron floating in the air, while the civilians lived in the wasteland-like steel city.

In the steel city, humans and mechanical reformers coexist, and the weak meat is the only survival rule in the steel city. In the steel city, the famous reformer Dr. Dyson Ido discovered the remains of a semi-mechanical girl in a garbage dump. He transformed it into a girl with a mechanical body. Ido named the girl who was born again. This girl is Alita. Alita lost her past memories, just like a newborn is full of curiosity about the world. She met the street boy Hugo, and they have a good relationship. Innocently, Alita found that she had amazing fighting power, and in the process of strangling, she slowly recovered her memory and began to think of her mission.

This film does not evade idealism or reality. To some extent, this movie jumped out of the Hollywood routine. Alita's passionate speech at the pub is the same as the well-known hero movie routine, but the next scene is not a gathering of vibrating arms, but an indifferent laughter of indifferent spectators. This is not a mockery, but a laugh of a joke. Yeah, what a childish little girl! She actually wants selfish humans to unite for justice. They reason why I like this movie is the infinite possibilities that it brings. Does Hugo really fall down in the air and die? Has Alita destroyed the metropolis? After destroying the metropolis, what kind of new society can they build? If Nova is overthrown, will the new ruler become a new Nova? In short, Alita is not a simple girl who grows into a movie. It has a bigger vision and a broader development space. It is more like a political film, a prelude to a great revolution. I am willing to give three stars to wait and see how this cyberpunk girl will make a big trouble, see how the old dynasty collapsed and see what the new world will be. The revolution has a long road, and I hope that Alita will grow up quickly and open up a new world.
