RE: Review: Symphony for the City of the Dead

in #steempress6 years ago

Thank you for this review. Being originally from ex-UUR I remember our history classes as well as music lessons, of course Shostakovich' is the must of the school program, everything you describing reminded me my time in school, as we had to present our favorite Musician from that time and of course some of my colleagues were very good in performing his music works too. I am glad that nowadays the iron curtain is fallen down and people can learn a lot from the history that was hidden for many years. I am glad that there is an opportunity to get an audible books, that is something that sometimes people listen in cars while traveling as many of us have little time in this hectic world :)

Shostakovich is a great proof that music is universal and transcends boundaries. I'm not a musician myself, but I come from a family with quite a few musicians (both my parents are), and I find it really interesting to see how a place that a lot of Americans viewed with so much suspicion and uncertainty still held a universal humanity that is easy to overlook.
