Lana del Rey. Watercolor!

in #steempress6 years ago (edited)

HELLO AGAIN BLOGGERS!

"Once again, I have taken my brush to paper a part of myself, my art."

A phrase that occurred to me while evoking the memory of when I made this painting. That's exactly what I feel when I paint.

It is really difficult to express my admiration for the character I will present to you on this occasion. Lana del Rey, whose real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, is a singer, actress and songwriter born in New York, USA. I don't know how many of you like it, but I, in particular, have been quite inspired by your music since 2012 with the release of your debut album, Born to Die.

I don't know if it's her ethereal beauty, her particular voice, the lyrics of her songs or the vintage style that characterizes her that makes me admire her so much (maybe they're all of them. Haha), but it's a fact that I've been captivated by her and with every album she's released since then, she's also thrown a heavier and stronger net on me, which keeps me imprisoned under her melancholic influence. I hope you enjoy seeing this painting, as much as I enjoy making it.

Step 1

On a 28 x 34 cm watercolour cardboard, I made the corresponding pencil sketch, thus precisely establishing the dimensions of the face.

In this case it was somewhat difficult to find the skin tone, because it was the first colored face I did since I started using watercolor. After trying various blends, I decided to use a well diluted brown, with which I began to paint the silhouette of the woman's face and eyes.

Later, when I did the Daenerys painting, I realized that orange was a better option.

Step 2

After finishing the details of that face that has taken so many sighs out of me, I began to paint the hair, which took me a long time, because achieving that wavy effect was not easy. It is important to take your time on each strand. Make sure that the tufts are going in the right direction and also pay attention to the shades given by the shadows as opposed to the brightness of the shade.

Step 3

I loved painting the roses that adorn Lana's hair. I enjoyed shaping each petal and I really liked how they looked. Afterwards I colored her neck and painted the singer's blouse.

Step 4

To look carefully at what we believe to be the "Final Result" is, for me, one of the most important steps. The quality of a work is in the precision and thoroughness of the person who carries it out.

Finally

The result of a great effort and comparison with the original image

I hope you liked this painting. Maybe it's not the only time you'll see Lana del Rey on my profile, since it's not the first time I've painted her and it's definitely not the last time.

A big hug. Thank you once again for reading my post and as always I would like to stress:

Patience is the key and constancy is your sister's!
