Have you heard about these cool Steem powered projects yet? Yes, there are others! Steemit.com is just 1 of many front-ends for the Steem blockchain!
1. Did you know the #Steem is just a blockchain like Bitcoin? And Steemit.com is just a website that uses the Steem blockchain, and others can and do this as well?
Basically Steem is a currency/technology that was used to create Steemit.com, and is actively being used to also develop other cool front ends and alternate experiences for Steemians to enjoy! Below is a list of the main ones you should know about and a few other cool tidbits about our wonderful community!
2. There are many projects actively in development right this moment, everything from Forums, Twitter, Instragram & Steem personal powered websites even?
Zappl: The #SteemPowered Twitter aka micro blogging platform.
This might easily be one of the main reasons Steem price moons, Twitter is meant for the average joe, and these platforms will help us get to a billion users 1 at a time, Zappl is but the tip of the iceberg, but is one of the main apps that will pave the way to mainstream Steem usage. Zappl is actively being developed and will launch in the coming months (No specific date is set yet, I'm speculating.)
SteepShot: The #SteemPowered Instagram aka photo sharing social media platform.
This is another very lucrative marketing being tested with a Steem backed app, and once it comes out of alpha and the marketing blitz begins, you better hold your coins closely. The moms, grandmas and everyone else who likes to post their lunch will soon be at our door steps, but then again so will millions of users! You can already download and play with steepshot on both iOS and Android, but it still just pulls Steemit content for now.
ChainBB: The #SteemPowered version of a forum setting with a familiar forum-esque interface.
I think this goes without saying, the entire internet is aware of what forum is and most of us have used one if not hundreds in our time online, so seeing the value in a forum that pays you to participate via upvotes on quality comments and posts seems like a gold mine if I have ever seen one. While chainBB is still in beta, you can still use it simply by visiting beta.chainbb.com.
SteemitFeed: The Wordpress plugin for Steem, that lets your blog be powered by #Steem while still using Wordpress to customize things.
This ones a little bet less obvious, but imagine if every website could simply hook up a steemit account and have the content automagically published each time they post? Well good news, that already exists and works very well! Not to mention the developers are actively looking for ways to improve it. Simply install Wordpress on a website host and add this plugin to get started and within 20 minutes you'll have a sweet website powered by Steem!

Much less effort that's true, plus most of the people have a problem with long posts, they want the short and easy :)
Yeah agree on that big time. Short and punchy posts could be a catalyst for Steem to sky rocket again. Really looking forward to Zappl!
I have a chrome extension for Steemit that I think is pretty useful too! You can check it out here. It shows your voting percentage, time until next increase and how close you are to the next rep point. Hoping to add more soon.
It works on Steemit natively when you add it!

Power up now before the Steem train leaves the station. Once these Steem Dapps hit its going to be a rocket straight up. Remember ETH was at $6 in Dec.? I commented publicly that everyone should be buying . Within a few months it hit $420. Now Steem has that same feeling to me. Its def undervalued at the moment. I am calling for a 5 Billion market cap into next year, which is about a 15X return including dilution from the current levels.
It would be really great though to make a standardized UI library, that can help users differentiate front-end apps that are based on the Steem blockchain.
Currently I see a lack of good design and user experience in most of these apps. There is still much room for improvement.
But I guess, peoples time, commitment and motivation will make it happen soon enough.

Please stop comparing yourself to bitcoin. One very important difference is Steemit can be hacked. While bitcoin has never been hacked...
You are mistaken. The Steem blockchain has never been hacked. Some accounts where hacked on the steemit.com website (not the blockchain) last year in July (i think) and some funds were stolen. The exploit was patched and steemit.com covered the losses.
Do not confuse an application that runs on top of the blockchain with the blockchain. It's like saying that the latest exploit on the Jaxx wallet proves that Bitcoin was hacked.

No, bitcoin has never been hacked. Steemit has been hacked before & I got hacked yesterday. I posted evidence to my page.

You're right I'd like something to fix this so I'm drawing attention to it. I've also posted in the Facebook community. I'm looking for the blockchain explorer to find out where it went.
