The Underground Music Scene

Not a lot of people know about the existence of the “Underground”. This is a realm of pure unity, support and passion. It’s basically the flip-side of the mainstream and pop culture. This is a place where you can see people of all ages, gender, race, and social class become one together. This is where you can see the beauty of chaos and disorder.

It may seem really chaotic and terrorizing for the faint hearted, the weak, and the narrow minded but this is a place of nothing else but true beauty. This is the gateway to the real world, this is where you can understand your true self and identity. It helps you embrace the duality of things such as the negative and the positive.

Generally, this music scene is incorporated with rock music such as punk rock, hardcore, metal, emo, alternative rock, grunge, and even indie music. This scene may seem self-indulgent mainly because people who are into "this" have one thing in common, they all are children in heart. They’re basically just like kids playing, adults who unleashes their inner child, leaving all the worries of adulthood behind.

The following video was taken during the Crows and Vikings Tour Cagayan de Oro leg. Headlined by rock band Typecast and co-headlined by metalcore band Valley of chrome. The band playing in this video is "Rapture". A Nu Metal/Hardcore/Rapcore band from the localities of Cagayan de Oro City. The band Consists of Moimoi Sugian on vocals, Ton Amarille on bass, Ruh Lopez on guitars, Abe Camba on drums and Kokoi Gamo on guitars(Proxy).

In this video, the crowd looks like a riot, this is called a “Moshpit”. It's like a way of putting out the rage without caring about who might get hit with the kicks, the punches, elbow and arm swings. This is one of the best parts of every show. Every hardcore, punk and metal show can’t be complete without the pit. Others might get annoyed and some may get angry when they are hit but this is the part of every show that must always be considered before going. This is just child’s play nonetheless. Nobody can stop the kids from having fun.

All in all and underground show is like an art act in its entirety. Musicians use the music as medium of expression and the audience that understands the act bangs its head or dances altogether. This is the underground, our reality.
