My first brush with SteemMonsters was through @MrViquez; he mentioned it, and mentioned it and then all of a sudden it took over his blog (really go check his page and see how far back you have to scroll to see a title without steemmonsters in it). For a minute I was like wooooah okay dude… but then I was kind of like hummmm okay dude…

Then I see that @Hanshotfirst was pulled into it as well?! As I was reading about his experience I was slightly amused and more than slightly horrified. Here were my two favorite Steem guys, going coocoo for cocopuffs over this game, buying an absolutely ridiculous amount of packs. Have you no self control?!?! I thought to myself, shaking my head in amazement at how these wonderful creatures were so easily pulled into the pit.

I stopped though, as a feeling surfaced. I remembered nerdy little kid @Accio, with her baseball card binder full of Pokemon cards… I remembered possibly even nerdy-er preteen @Accio with her Yu-Gi-Oh bed sheets (no I’m not kidding I seriously had Yu-Gi-Oh on my bed at 19-14 years old) and I was like yeah, okay dudes.

Then… I saw it everywheeere. I felt a little left out to be honest… Oh come on @Accio, all of our friends are doing it! Look, people are giving away free packs left and right! Rational me won out of course, as she usually does these days. I still don’t have any packs because well, I know a thing or two about addictions and I know that I win some packs here, I win some packs there… I know I’m going to want MORE. I’m going to want to get more cards, and level my cards faster than I can aquire free packs.

I also know that in the near future I’m going to need to be working two and a half jobs while single moming and doing Steemit and preparing for (followed by attending) University. Yes I know that’s crazy, thank you. I know that spending money on packs is absolutely NOT an option for me. If I start… I will buy packs, and I just can’t.

So sadly I conceded to watching from the sidelines.

Until…

I was informed the night before last that there’s a writing channel on the SteemMonsters discord. A writing channel? What could they be writing about? Oh developing an entire world for the game? I’M IN!!!! So I tra la la’d on over to check it out. Okay this seems interesting… I’ll give it a shot… And I announced my intention to be on Team Gold.

Yeah I haven’t thought about much else since. We had our first Team Gold group meeting last night. @aggroed, @JesterMage, @neoxion, @rakkasan84, @chronocrypto are awesome. All the ideas were awesome, the whole thing is freaking awesome.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS WRITE ABOUT STORY IDEAS FOR STEEMMONSTERS AND TALK ABOUT STORY IDEAS WITH MY AWESOME TEAM!!!

This is really cool guys.

@aggroed and his team have an amazing vision and I’m so glad I’m getting to be a little factor in that vision. Let me mention again all of the awesomeness floating around this. If you’re not yet involved in @steemmonsters yet I highly recommend that you check it out. Worlds are being created here people, big details right down to how people insult each other in game. I’m telling you, insider scoop, that this is going to be EPIC.

This is not going to be a cheesy simple linear surfacy storyline, just in the couple of hours that Team Gold was chatting and brainstorming we touched on amazing complexities. I’m talking Tolkien, Rowling, Martian, Rice, Brooks, Paolini level functional living, breathing world creation has begun.

Get ready Steem creatures, this is going to be fun. Go! Go get involved! There's lots of way to do so, go! Now!
