How App delivery company will try to monopolize restauration
Today Rebel Foods (Formerly Faasos), an Indian food delivery service startup, announced the fundraising of $125 million with Goldman Sachs, Coatue Management and Indonesian food delivery service Gojek.
This fundraising happened after the $575m massive one of Deliveroo, in May 2019. The fascinating part is that food delivery companies are slowly shifting their business model, from delivery service cooking and delivering, becoming competitors of actual restaurants.
This is the business model Rebel Foods decided to experiment, after gradually pivoting from food delivery to cloud kitchen & delivery. UberEATS : Cockburn Corridor Launch bought more than 100 dark kitchen in the U.K. in March 2019, Zomato plans to open 100 of them before the end of the year.
According to #Statista, the Online food delivery market size represented $91.4 billion dollar in 2018. #China is leading this trend with a $34 billion generated in the country, followed by the #US and #Europe. And it should grow with the increasing number of user of these platforms. Still according to a study of Statista, more and more people rely on these application to order their food.
But with an increasing competition, a significant turnover and negative earnings, companies need to find new cash revenues. Therefore they are now step in the classic restaurant industry.
