The man who ate his seed yams
Things Fall Apart (by Chinua Achebe) is an interesting book. This book has an interesting main character, Okonkwo.
Okonkwo is hardworking, diligent and strong. However, his father, Anoka, is a lazy man but worse still, he is known as a squanderer of wealth...
An Igbo man who eats his seed yams can't be considered otherwise.
Eating your seed yams means you are eating away your tomorrow. You can't harvest yams you don't plant. And since seed yams are what you plant, eating them means you don't intend to sow.
And if you don't sow, you don't reap.
Don't get this wrong: Seed yam is yam and will taste good when cooked. But it isn't meant for cooking; it is meant for sowing.
The challenge is to know which yams are meant for cooking and those that are meant for sowing.
The same applies to the money you get: Some are meant for spending while some are meant for sowing to ensure another harvest; to ensure a better tomorrow.
Are you eating your seed yams?
Don't.
Here's an opportunity for you to sow them for a bigger harvest...
