Chembolu Seetharama Sastry, better known as Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, is no more. The legendary Telugu lyricist breathed his last today (November 30) while undergoing treatment for lung cancer-related complications at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 66.
Nearly 3000 songs came from his pen. The ‘Wizard of Lyrics’ received the Nandi Award 11 times from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the combined State, for writing wonderful admirable songs which entertained music lovers. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019 for his contribution in the field of arts.
The notable lyricist’s 1986 film “Sirivennela”, a classic made by director K Vishwanath, is one of his best.
