RE: Getting High is a Human Right (Revised Edition)
I couldn't agree with you more. Nice #steemitzombie! I live in Mass and weeds been legal for a little while but it was decriminalized for years before they made it legal. I've always smoked lol but it really isn't even about whether it's good for you or heals cancer or whatever else - the truth of the matter is sovereignty over our own bodies. I think your point here is SO important! I recently wrote a post about the lack of personal sovereignty.. it's passed payout but it's a decent read
People should be able to choose which drugs that use or don't. Big pharma and healthcare crept in and brainwashed everyone that certain pharmaceuticals were the end all be all and demonized psychedelics and medicinal herbs - it's sad that it happened... I don't know how people were fooled but in today's world it's so far gone it's hard to know if things will change.. the "Man" will never have it. But if we ever take down these criminals in suits choking out our country, lol - then maybe we have a chance ;-)
wow I blabbed on .. sorry about that! - oh I've Resteemed :)
Thank you and very true. I'll check out that post.
Some places are more accepting than others for sure. The coasts seem to be leading the charge for the most part. Even in the deep red states there is pretty high support for it though (in the public, at least). I think this way of framing the argument is helpful because it appeals to a lot of (politically) different kinds of people. The personal freedom angle seems to do well with the libertarian types, the consent and choice side of it is popular with the people who are very concerned with social justice issues, and so on.
I used to work a few different sales jobs when I was younger and I found that changing the way you sell a thing based on who you are selling it to is very effective at winning over difficult customers. I try to apply that same principal when I argue for legalization and drug law reform. We all know that the drug war has something for everyone to hate. The trick is showing the right person the right thing but if we do that, there is a good chance of bringing them to the right side of this issue.
No worries about babbling, I do the same thing all the time.
Thank you for the resteem, I really appreciate it.
That is really the beat approach I can imagine and it definitely would work. It's just time consuming to individualize the debate 300 million ways 😂 but we will all keep trying !
Haha true enough.
There does seem to be prgress coming it is just painfully slow. As long as we keep pushing things improve. I look around and even grandparents are smoking weed, the younger people are far more aware of psychedelics than they have been in decades, so there is some hope, at least.
