SteemitPhotoChallenge Entry: Australian Landscape - Sunset from Quinns Rocks Beach
Australia is one vast continent, larger than the whole of Europe, but with a population of only 24 million. And so it is that one is able to find freedom from life's pressures and the peace and tranquility to enjoy one's own company, when one needs such space.
I recently travelled across the continent, from Sydney to Perth, the global city that is farthest away from any other major city in the world, to visit my daughter. And I was able to capture these amazing and breath-taking sunsets at Quinns Rocks beach, about 40 minutes drive north of Perth.
This series of photographs was taken with my iPhone 6S in December 2015.
Here the sun finally signals its intention to leave these shores.
The sun dropped closer to the horizon very quickly. There is nothing between here and the east coast of America.
I captured this shot of my daughter as a seagull blocked out the setting sun....just for a split second.
Almost the sun's last gasp for the day.
The final farewell, until it rises again on the far side of the vast continent, in Sydney.
All the remains is the rosy glow of a sun gone for today.
And to finish off, here are a couple of short videos that I took that captured these moments for me in perpetuity.
To be almost alone on a beach on the Western edge of the Australian continent is to understand the grandeur and greatness of nature.
Thanks for sharing my Perth sunsets with me.
