'Steemitphotochallenge' #3 Entry - Something in nothing

Here are my 3 entries to the #steemitphotochallenge - Desolation. I tried to get an example of building, landscape and object.

No. 1 - The Birds (taken with HTC Desire eye)
Taken in Lop Buri, Thailand. This is one building in the 17th century 'Vichayen House' complex, the residence of the first French Ambassador. Now, the entire complex lies in ruins, devoid of life - except for the birds that have claimed it as home.

No. 2 - Street of Petra (taken with iPhone 4s)
A lesser known scene from the famous ancient city of Petra in Jordan. This photo screams desolation to me. The arid, dusty landscape and the road that leads only to more of the same. The empty caves that are dotted along the road were once houses in a thriving village but now lay empty and deserted.

No. 3 - All but the fan (taken with HTC Desire Eye) Shot this while exploring Lantau Island off Hong Kong. Almost every house in the street lay abandoned and overgrown. I can only guess the owners fled during a hill fire that tore through the island in 2004. Now nothing remains inside except shattered glass and a fan. The fan guards the door that remains open, as if in hope that someone will return.
