Students invest Bitcoin, is it possible?

One day, I asked my students in front of the class.

"Do you know about Bitcoin and other crypto currencies," I asked.

They were silent. No one answered. This means that they have never heard or did not know. Then I explained about Bitcoin and other crypto currencies with a simple language. Bitcoin is one of crypto currency, I said. There are several other crypto currencies besides Bitcoin, probably amounting to thousands. Other crypto currencies such as Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple, Litecoin, STEEM, and others. Crypto currency is created through cryptography and mathematical numbers (I do not understand the mathematical derivatives used here). The appeal of the criterion currency is anonymity and lower transaction costs.

When I explained Bitcoin at the time, the price of Bitcoin was about 80 million rupiah, and when I wrote this article, the price of Bitcoin reached 130 million rupiah.

Well, do you think the students (aged 12-15) deserve to know about Bitcoin? To introduce what is Bitcoin, I think this is not a problem. However, getting them to invest Bitcoin, I think, not the time they do it. Why? Because investment requires capital, while students' finances are still borne by their parents.

Knowledge of Bitcoin and crypto currencies for students, I think they need to know. Crypto currency has a good future, because every year the value of this currency is always up and has a positive trend.

On the sidelines of my explanation of Bitcoin, a student asked about the legality of Bitcoin in Indonesia. It's an interesting question! Indonesia does not ban Bitcoin, but Indonesia does not justify Bitcoin as a legitimate payment instrument. Bitcoin investments and trade should be done with caution. A lack of caution will cause a person to lose. If losses are obtained in large quantities, it is feared will make a person depressed. This is also what I explain to them. I do not give high expectations for them because it is very risky.

I also told that my capital in investing and trading Bitcoin is STEEM. STEEM I get from my post payout in Steemit. What is Steemit? I asked the students. But again the students fell silent. Steemit is a social media-based blog, almost similar to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others. What distinguishes is the system technology. Steemit is a blockchain-based social media. The most important Blockchain systems are transparency, decentralization, and have the value of the crypto currency token unit.

But, again I do not encourage my students to join in Steemit. I do not recommend this. Maybe you will ask why I should explain about Bitcoin or Steemit to them? I think, if for knowledge of crypto currency is no problem. After all, they will also find out in the future. My explanation at least gives a little insight to them.

At the end of the explanation, I invited my students to register for Steemit, but when they were 17 or 18 years old. Yes, this is the age appropriate for them to be active in Steemit or if possible invest in crypto currency.

This is just my view, maybe you are different opinions, please comment! []

Good question ...
One could ask: "If they use Facebook, then why not use Steemit as well?"

I will not forbid them. In my case, I have explained what Steemit is to my students. If they sign up for money, this is what I'm worried about. My assumption is, it's not time they make money. The experience here shows that children who earn money independently will disrupt their learning. Maybe in the next few years, my assumption is wrong or otherwise.

nice post, which one do you suggest? wasting time for gaming? or writing? the junior student dont have write/post to earn money, but if they spent their time to practise i dont thing thats abad idea, lets support them

Write not only in Steemit. But what if they get stuck into the "virus" Steemit and a wrong understanding of crypto? I support them when they are 17 or 18 years old. It's a decent age for them.

the point is not the money but practice to improve their composition

I think children should aware and realize the changes of the global financial system toward open and decentralized monetary system in cyrpto-currency.

wow amazing post @teukumukhlis
if you can visit to my post

I think it is possible

Agreed, especially for high school students, most of them work part-time. They earn their own money and it can be invested.

For high school, I agreed! But, for junior, I think not yet.

acceptable bapak @teukumukhlis. I also think that early aged students are not supposed to run any bussiness.

My son wanted to buy Bitcoin when he was 17-years-old. They said he was not allowed and had to wait till he turned 18. He was immediately notified the day he turned 18, that he could buy now. He is also part of the Bitcoin family now and is amazed how his investment is growing.

Nice experience. Here, the parents still do not know about Bitcoin.

Outstanding post and narrative. Thank you for sharing Resteemed!
