Miss Beatrix's life stories #1 The Bogals (English Additional Reading)
Whenever I went to visit Miss Beatrix in her beautiful cottage she told me stories about her life and all the adventures she went on. I am going to take you through the wonderful adventures and endeavors she went on. You will have to endure with me for quiet sometime, since I have a lot of stories up my sleeves.
Miss Beatrix and I were sitting on the porch when little old Misty came running up with a multi color frog hanging from its mouth. All you could see was the legs pointing at every direction while he was trying to evade this little, pesky wolf.

We laughed, and then Miss Beatrix began...
"When I was a little girl, we lived on the other side of Hulad. Deep into the rocky mountains where the grass grew as high as a car; Where the wind creaked while it blew through the curves and ditches and the water sang the most beautiful songs."
"Dad, mom, Sylvia, Roxy and me all lived in a small house, more a hut than a house, under one of the biggest trees I have ever seen. It was beautiful. The twirls of the branches, the interesting forms of the leaves. And then there where the insects. They were intriguing and amazing."
For a short while Miss Beatrix didn't speak a word. She drifted into her memories. You could see the love and enjoyment experienced from these memories.
"There was this beautiful beetle type insect. We called it blob. It had amazing bright colors, but it looked as if gumdrops where covering her. "

"Blob loved to talk to Sylvia. She took her on amazing adventures. From visiting the stars, to diving in the big witches hole, found in the daring Duram forest. I once went with them to visit the bogals."
"What's a bogal?" I asked Miss Beatrix. I have heard of strange things, but a bogal...
"Bogals where little rock people that lived in the upper parts of the Duram forest. They changed colors when their emotions change. When they are happy they turned pink, when they feel sad they turned blue and when they were jealous they turned green."

"But... The strangest thing happened once. Blob became Sylvia's protector in a certain sense. Whenever she was in trouble Blob came and saved her. During one of our visits to the Bogals, Chirad, came to me. Now, Chirad was one of the leaders of the Bogals and became a good friend of mine. She took my hands and the next thing I knew we where swept up by the wind and found ourselves twirling higher and higher. We found ourselves at a pool, at the bottom of one of the waterfalls. It was amazing."

Miss Beatrix just sat there, reliving this experience.
"I was standing in awe, watching, taking in all the beautiful nature that was surrounding me. When my dad and Chirad came to me. I don't know how my dad got there, but I guess since we got to the Bogals through Blob, dad most likely also had a way of getting there... My dad came up to me and said the following:
We all have a purpose in life, mine was to raise a family, to ensure that our relationships with the Bogals were kept in tacked and are strengthened. Yours my love will be to learn everything you can from the bogals about farming, growing vegetables and fruit, to learn how to provide and to take that to our people. Only a few has learned the skill from the Bogals. You are privileged that they have chosen you to learn their way of farming. Take in and learn everything you can."
Miss Beatrix stood up and indicated that I must follow her. We walked to the back of her little red cottage. There, against the rocks grew grass that were covering the rocks. At one place three rocks were placed on top of each other. She pushed the grass out of her way. There lay the entrance to a cave of something. When we entered there where mushrooms growing as far as the eye can see.

"In the other caves I am growing grains, vegetables and fruit. The Bogals taught me how to grow anything without sunlight, how to provide for my family. You must have wondered how we were able to provide everything without going into town, well this is how. Remember child:
Life can be cruel and weird at the same time, but always take what you have learned and see how you can use it to your advantage.
Eventhough the townspeople where so cruel, we weren't dependend on them because we where able to provide for our family from what I learned from my strange experiences with the bogals."
