Teaching English is not an easy task. If you want to educate your students well, you should treat them with different approaches. Students in different ages need some special teaching techniques. I would like to talk about some basic points which can help educators to teach children students English effectively.
First of all, children learn a language in a much more different way than adults. As they get bored with things easily, an experienced teacher has to be creative in all points of a lesson with them. It is true that children might feel bored during the lesson, but they are really curious at the same time which is a perfect thing for a teacher.
The materials that teachers use in a class make a huge difference in their learning process. When the target group is children, a teacher has to be well-prepared to keep their attention in class. When you manage to get their attention on the things they are learning, lesson will be so interesting and enjoyable for them.
There are lots of material that teachers can use to make the lesson more interesting for children students. You can't teach children by explaining some certain rules, they should learn everything through some interesting materials. Their learning way is not based on grammar structures.
Books / Cartoons / Songs!
We are in the age of technology. When we google for some sources, we can find lots of things to use in our classes. Book is one of the things which can be interesting for children. If you teach present simple tense, you can give them a short story with lots of verbs used in present simple form, don't forget to make them colorful!
When they something illustrated, it will help them to be more aware of the topic. As they are busy with illustrations, their curiosity will wake up and help them to learn things in an easier way. It can't be achieved when you write all grammar rules on the board. It is not the way they learn a language.
Songs are also great for them. If you tell them just to learn some verbs or months in English, they won't do that. However, if you find a nice song which is about months or those verbs, they will start singing and keep doing the same thing in the rest of day. It is a good way to make them feel happy.
Cartoons can help them to focus on the topic. As we all know, our children are also busy with mobile phones or laptops in these days, so presenting a nice cartoon which is full of useful phrases for them is totally perfect for them. It will surely help you to teach your children English language.
