Do we need religion?

religion-and-business.jpgI've just read these quotes:

"Most religions are not directed towards spiritual growth. Instead of awakening or enlightenment, they create slavery." - I Ching - The Book of Changes and the Unchanged Truth"

"The spiritual disorder of the human world is actually expressed in its religions. Religions distort the feeling of sincerity or adoration, so followers will never have the means to accurately achieve the wonderful reality of spiritual truth." - I Ching - The Book of Changes and the Unchanged Truth"

I asked myself the question: do we need religion? Well, it can not be answered in one or two sentences. Imagine all religions would cease, churches would be closed, priests would go ... What about the masses of believers? Surely there would be a huge chaos! But let's not go this far, just look at the definition of "religion"!

What does "religion" means? Reconnection with the Creator, with God! That's the correct meaning. The question is: do we need any mediator? A priest, rabbi, imam, master, etc? For much of humanity is still needed because they still aren't on the spiritual level to directly experience God's presence.

Religion has the same age as humanity and the development of today's religions has lasted for a long time. The basic question was always: where did we come from, who are we and where do we go? Why are we here on earth? Is there life after death?

The nonviolent, animistic, beliefs-in-nature-spirits religions were gradually displaced by the repressive, missionary religions. This is apparently bad, but it is in fact for our development. In an animist religion we could live for tens of thousands of years, but there is no spiritual development, we remain children without any higher spiritual moral. Those peoples were doing better, who have not forgotten their old beliefs but were integrated into conquering religions. Those who resisted, were all died. Think of South America - they've mainly survived, but almost eliminated in North America. Of course, we, Hungarians, also survived!

These millennia and centuries can be characterized as the ages of "Fear of God". What does it mean? Strict morality, lifestyle control, punishment if you are a bad child, and reward if you are a good child. Like a strict father and child. Within such burdens and barriers, life was difficult, but without these, many would have disappeared in the "sink".

Although much of humanity still needs religion as a spiritual protection, more and more people feel they would rather be free and connect with God, without any mediator. Like an eagle chick in egg, where the shell is the old religion, and the chick is fully developed to break out from the shell. And then breaks, see the Sun, moves its wings... No feathers yet, needs some food but not yet completely independent. This is the age when one is looking for a new way to see God, but also need some help. If you are ready, you will find a community where you are supported and not tied. This is my own example, you may have other help.

What do I see now in Europe? The decline of Christianity and the prosperity of Islam, especially in the West. The reasons: many people have thrown their Christian roots away, replacing it with the material world, money and pleasure, instead of searching for God in themselves and in each other. Or they were disappointed of their church (see pedophile scandals, etc.), and try some "esotheric" clubs where they learn mostly false teachings. The empty space of spirituality is being filled by Islam, which has a non-European value system.

White European people, therefore, is left without God's faith. Only nihil, material pleasures, consuming remain. Straight road to death...or hell. I can only hope that not everyone is going to this dead end!

Interesting view. Religion is a necessary foundation for our civilization to function but I believe its true meaning was lost a long time ago.

We need religion to help control mass populations and provide a core principal that that population adheres to. This causes issues and war when conflicting ideologies mix since neither side will provide any leeway.

The "esoteric" principals of religious movements are more important as they help develop the spiritual understanding an individual has and brings forth the commonly observed ideas of many mainstream religions.

My opinion: Modern day religions are no longer needed as they are tools for conflict, but, the esoteric/soul development that some religions offer is still very much important. They help guide young believers down a life path that will see them treat others with respect and dignity opposed to oppressing others' views.

Hey have you heard of the book “The Death of Europe”? It talks about stuff like this and is pretty great.
