Make your classroom into a playground

Laughing children.png

Children learn best when they are having fun.

They remember the things that they enjoy more than a lengthy lesson from a teacher who talks for hours using the whiteboard.

An engaging and innovative teacher should think of ways to make lesson interesting and fun.

Science

Concept: A force is an action exerted on objects. A force can be a push or a pull.

Using balloon sculpture, allow pupils to make different objects. Lead them to see how force is being used from pumping air into the balloons to twisting and making different objects.

English

Concept: Adverbs

Design two sets of cards where one set is action verbs while the other set is adverbs.

Get pupils to randomly select an action verb without knowing which verb would be chosen.

Get them to act out the verb first.

Get another child to randomly choose an adverb and show it to the pupil still doing the action for the action verb.

Let everyone see how the verb changes with an adverb added to the acting out.

You would see many of them laughing and eager to participate.

Mathematics

Concept: Length

Get some clothes and measuring tapes.
Get your pupils to make some simple clothes which measurement would definitely be required.

They get to wear what they make.

Have a fashion show after that!

Concept: Measurement of mass

Get pupils to make pancakes where weighing scales be used.

The above are just some simple examples but I believe you can develop many creative ideas better than what I suggested.

Make your lesson fun and make it come to life.

You will not see a child yawn in front of you ever again.

Hello @fun2learn I really love your tips are super practical and simple to apply in a class, and most importantly they are fun which means that students learn while having fun. Good for you! Regards!!

Thank you! I am also a regular supporter for your articles.

The classroom environment is a crucial component to providing quality education to our students, especially in the early exploratory years. We need to set up our classrooms to provide hands on learning opportunities that are relevant and tangible. It is also important that we consider student seating and peer grouping when setting up our class. We need to make sure that our students are in situations that will help set them up for success.

I agree with your point and the practical examples that you have listed here are very informative and easy to use.

If many more teachers can use this method to deliver their topics, it will lead to more engaging classrooms and happy students.

Thanks for sharing @fun2learn

Appreciate your positive and supportive comment! Thanks!

My pleasure. Please, Keep up the great work.

Nice thoughts! I would say this: "Children [and adults] learn best when they are having fun." I think that we should always strive to have fun when learning things in our life. I just started learning a new programming language (react.js) with an online course and I am determined to have fun learning it as much as possible ;)
Keep up your great work.
