Facts about hippopotamus
• They weigh up to 1.5 tons
• They are semi-aquatic animals (i.e they grow equally well in water but not living wholly in water)
• They can live up to 45 years
• Parts of its characteristics include
- Its stout body(i.e thick and strong body)
- Its stubby leg(i.e short and thick)
- Bulbous head(i.e big and round in an unattractive way)
• The ear, eyes and nostrils are located on top of the head which makes it easier for it to live longer in water all day and breathe easily
• Despite their large mass( shapeless), they can run faster than humans on land covering about 18 -30 miles per hour while human can run 27.97 miles per hour
• They are mammals that can give birth underwater( I.e they are marine mammals).
