Ladakh-The Land of Passes - III
In my today's post, I will write about two more passes of Ladakh- The Zoji La and the Bara lacha La.
Zoji La or Zoji Pass

The Zoji la (also know as Zozila) is one of the important mountain passes that provides a link between Ladakh and Kashmir. At an elevation of 11,575 ft (3,528 meters) above the sea level, the pass is considered as one of the most risky roads in India. The pass tests the endurance of travellers at every turn. However, the breathtaking view leaves an indelible impression in the heart and mind. The adventure of driving on the Zoji La is once in a lifetime experience. It is bordered by the Kashmir basin on one side and Drass basin on the other side. The pass overlooks snow-covered summits and dense strip of jungles.
**Bara lacha La**

Bara-lacha la also known as Bara-lacha Pass is a high mountain pass in Zanskar range situated along the Leh–Manali Highway. At an elevation of 4,890 m or 16,040 ft, Bara lacha Pass connects Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir. >Bara lacha La literally meaning a pass where many roads meet, is a high plateau where three different mountain ranges - Pir Panjal, Zanskar and the Great Himalayas meet. Just below the Bara-lacha La pass in the Lahaul and Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh state in India lies Suraj Tal or Surya Taal, a lake considered sacred by the hindus With its awe-inspiring landscapes, like lush valleys dense forests and barren lands, the chandratal lake trek will leave you asking for more.
