CHILDREN DAY OUGHT NOT TO BE CELEBRATED IN NIGERIA
Today is children's day, rather than say Happy Children's day I'll ask, how many of our children are really happy?
And can we just stop bringing children we do not have the means to take care of to the world??? Anyways, another day's talk.
Please read the quoted words below and let's think about these things together." It’s incredibly ridiculous how in bringing up our children,
we grow in them a mentality that they are born to be our slaves. The average Nigerian man enslaves his child. Children are abused by their own parents, doing jobs way beyond their age, hawking wares at odd times and dangerous places. Travelling by road, from Calabar through Uyo and to Port Harcourt, the number of child hawkers you’ll see on the road will ache your heart. Sometimes, in extreme cases, children fend for the families..."
Why would you paint Nigeria as a country that enslaved her children. Do not make a general statement. Very few children are on the street hawking and yeah children day has to be celebrated. Get your statistics right. What is the children day celebration all about? Besides the children on the road are mostly kids from poor home. Do not blame the prents, blame the economy. Preach the need for parents to practice family planing. Sensitize them on the need for children to go back to school.
