He Hate English But Teaching English Now ; What A Story

This is a true story of an English instructor who once hated the English language very much. I had the opportunity to do a little interview about him who has experienced teaching English more than two decades ago. My interest in his story began when he told me that he really hate learning English. Then I asked "but don't you teach English?". "Yes, I teach English now" he replied with a smile. "How is the story, how can you like English and teach but you said you ahte English at beginning?"

Then he started telling stories from the beginning. Since elementary school he has gone to school in 4 elementary schools, drop out and incoming to other schools because of his naughty. At the junior high school level, he did not graduate junior high school and repeat the class again.

At high school level, he clashed with an English teacher because the teacher was too arrogant and also a bit arrogant in teaching. Then he threw chalk and hit the teacher's eyes. Of course, he was not allowed to enter the English class again. And he does not care about that class anymore. Starting from there he tried to join a member of OSIS in high school. Although classified as a stubborn student and he hate English very much, he wanted to be active in the organization. To make this long story become short he finally graduated in high school and do not understand what is English and hate it very much.

His college years had already felt, but he left the faculty of economics. Return home to Langsa he began to help in family owned restaurant. At that time the oil companies in Langsa still needed a lot of local men who could speak English to work at the company.

Then his brother challenged him to learn English. At that time in Langsa city did not have a remarkable English course. One day he heard there was a junior high school student who opened an English course at his home. He is 20 years old and did not afraid to learn English from basic even though his teacher is a junior high school student.

He was very impressed with the way of the little "teacher" explained English. Simple, simple, and easy to follow - that's how he describes the teaching patterns of English that the little teacher showed. He also joined other children, and he was not ashamed to study with the children.

On the third day of studying, he has started to love learning English, although only can read a few words. Precisely it becomes its own motivation. In the second week, he was getting hooked to learn more. No half-hearted, he took all the classes offered by the course with teachers who still studying in junior high school level.

After that he decided to go to college again and away from his hometown because of the conflict that hit in Aceh. He continued his studies at a university in Jogja with majoring in English education.

From there he began to learn a lot about the techniques of teaching English to some other supporting science. As a result, he was also proficient in English conversation. After college, he returned to his hometown.

This time he was immediately accepted by an oil company in Langsa and worked thare for several years. After the oil company closed, he continued his career in the field of teaching English.

That's a bit of a real story from someone who really hates English at the beginning but eventually he became an English teacher.
