STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE #39 - New Theme Announcement - All Welcome For SBD Prizes!
After skipping a week to gallivant around Ireland with a very good friend, I'm back online and delighted to bring you another exciting theme! It's a bit different this time, but different is good. Sometimes the themes are purely fun... other times they require some serious creative thought... Either way it's all good if they serve to bring us together in 'foodship' (friendship) and give us the chance to encounter different dishes, ingredients, cooking styles, and diets. I can't wait to see the entries for this week's theme... just scroll down to find out what it is!
For the winners of the previous round please see this link: "Vegan Dishes From Around The Globe".
For those of you who have never entered this challenge before - it's very easy! We have a different theme each week, and all you have to do is prepare a dish appropriate for the theme, and also ensure you follow the general rules of the challenge (below). You don't have to be a master chef - just try to be creative with your recipes and take beautiful photos, since unfortunately we can't taste the entries so you must help us do this with our imaginations! Original recipes are encouraged, but you may use someone else's recipe as long as you credit the original source.
The guest judge for this week is @shady - wife, mother, and all-round creative crafty lady! She is a fabulous cook and photographer, which you will know if you've come across her blog already... and if you haven't please do have a wee nosey! She has entered this contest many times herself, and has always been very supportive of her fellow contestants, so she has a great personality to compliment a great blog. The food she prepares not only looks wonderful but is healthy too and often unusual, which always makes me want to try it! As a mother she is conscious of her daughter's diet and health, and so the theme she has chosen for us this week is...
For those of you who aren't parents and have no idea what babies can eat, here is a general feeding guide to give you some ideas. This theme is more about nutritional qualities than appearance - though presentation is still important and it should be eye-catching and appealing to infants, not simply slop in a bowl! Hopefully it will get you thinking about how our eating habits begin. Obviously our interest in food starts from a very early age, and as we get used to all kinds of different flavours, textures, smells, etc, we develop preferences that shape our future eating habits and choices. The way our diets begin also have a major affect upon our future maturity in making decisions regarding our own health... whether our choices are based purely on what appeals, our willingness to try new things, or choosing foods because they have a positive and noticeable effect on our health.

OK!
I am SUPER STOKED to enter this challenge!
I invested a lot of time/energy into this because I REALLY love this challenge and want to participate and I also felt that this was a PERFECT challenge for me to partake in!
Here it is!
SteemON!

😂 I wouldn't know what to do for this. We give our kids the same as we eat. Not mashed at all
I mostly give them a plate with chunks of fruits vegies and sometimes meat. But that is nowhere from original. I guess I won't winn this one 😆
I wouldn't be so quick to think you won't win @newlifeprojects... The theme this week is much more about nutritional food for infants rather than impressive culinary styles, so if the judge deems yours to be amongst the most nutritionally balanced entries, then you would get a prize!
I find it interesting already that you don't mash the food... Since I guess most parents do, you're already original in your approach and that might be something worth sharing! :-)
It's called the Rapley methode, or you could 'google' baby-led weaning.
I did a lot of research about becoming a mom from when I was 14 years, since I loved biology and I just came across it one time :D
As a mom, I wouldn't think I'm original at all xD
As for original, have you heard of Priscilla Dunstan? She had such good ears that she 'invented' 'discovered' that babies have their own universal language based on sound pitches (!)
Great, thanks @newlifeprojects, I've only heard in passing of baby-led weaning but not looked into it properly, so I will do that! I will also look up Priscilla Dunstan as no, I've not heard of her before, but I always enjoy reading about different ideas and experiences.
This is the best thing about hosting the SCC - I learn so much from everyone who I end up in discussions with! :-)
Challenge Accepted! I have one idea for my entry :)
Yey! I can't wait to see what you make @babettxx!
Oh that's an interesting theme! I'm a parent...I really need to go back in time and make something that babies will love! I really hope I manage to do something though!
If anyone can @progressivechef - you can!!! :-)
So cool, this will be my first entry. And I love Kids and healthy food... So let's see what can we do! Not carrot ice-cream! I Swear ;)
Hmmmm carrot ice-cream eh? Interesting! ;-) I'm really looking forward to seeing what you create for us @leotrap... it's always exciting whenever someone joins in for the first time! Have fun!
Sure I willl and the carrot ice-cream was in the moment! See to all of you in here :)
Awesome!
I have been wanting to enter and play in your challenge for a while now and this may just be the perfect time!
I doubt anyone will make a healthier baby food than a high vibe eden concoction! I am excited and already have some good recipes I can whip up per the rules for the contest.
SteemON!
Now that sounds poetic "high vibe eden concoction"... love it! I knew you guys would be in the habit of giving your infants some really delicious and perhaps even unusual foods, so if you do get chance to share something with us that would be wonderful :-) I hope I'm not putting the pressure on too much though... I am just eager to see more of your awesome food @quinneaker!
I would love to prepare more foods as food alchemy is one of my passions. I would also love to share a lot more of it on Steemit I just have so many projects and responsibilities I have to prioritize and for a while now food alchemy hasn't been to high on the list.
I am feeling pretty tempted by this one though. Im feeling an entry for sure ;-)>
Here's my entry for this weeks steemit culinary challenge: https://steemit.com/steemitculinarychallenge/@alinalisa/steemit-culinary-challenge-39-banana-quinoa-baby-mash-dairy-and-gluten-free
It was quite difficult to come up with an idea since I'm no mother. But it was really funny to do the challenge. :)
So fast!
I better start thinking about mine to submit it too
Soy tu tio
Haha! Yeah, you should @tioluis. But I am sure you will think of something. :)
Oh my goodness, Dear @woman-onthe-wing I know quite a bit about baby food, but my daughter is an expert. I can also write an essay about the trial and error our twins put us through, the likes and dislikes and a big mess. Well the mess is ongoing challenge lol. Anyway, this is again right up my alley, so I will make something yummy and colorful. Even though our boys are toddlers now, they still eat some baby food especially Felipe............but there is never guaranteed they will like it lol.
I can't wait to see what you prepare @lenasveganliving! No doubt you've got plenty ideas, what with being a parent yourself and then having more recent experience with the twins too!
Sorry I haven't had chance to join in with your fruits & veggies monday since that first time, but I do hope it's going well!!! :-)
I am just about to start working on the recipe, so it's nice to hear from you. Dear @woman-onthe-wing . And don't worry about the fruits and veggies, I know you were busy. However, I would love you to join this Monday if you can. I am planning to start giving prizes, because the chalenge needs some boost, but I can only give very little, so will see...............so far it's going well, but not great. I really wish more people would participate.
Argh, sorry Lena, I didn't get online at all yesterday so have missed another Monday! Don't worry, in the beginning it takes a while to get going, but keep with it and in time you'll see growth and much more participation! You may even get additional sponsorship offers from various people who appreciate your mission, so give it time...! :-)
I understand you are very busy, so don't worry about it.............maybe next time. There is always another Monday 😊 But I am happy to say this Monday Contest actually turned out to be quite successful, I guess adding the prizes helped. I have few very nice entries to choose from and I am sure you are right, it will grow in time. Your entry is always welcome, when get chance 💚
Did you ever see the movie Baby Boom with Diane Keaton? She made gourmet baby food and...I won't spoil it. Good movie though.
Oh yeah I did see Baby Boom. Ha ha :-) Perhaps that's one I should re-watch this week as it's so apt!
Oh my! What a theme! Hope I can come up with something :-D
I have no doubt that you can @ikaputri3!!! Have fun :-)
Coucou @ikaputri3 et @woman-the-wing,
Est-il possible de poster en français ?
Merci pour votre réponse.
Christel.
Coucou @corsica! Je ne suis pas sûre si ce serait possible. On attend la réponse de @woman-onthe-wing. C'est elle qui gère le challenge :-)
Ok @ikaputri3 super !
