This will be one hell of a jiu jitsu show! 

Countdown to EBI 13: The Lightweights with tournament founder and jiu-jitsu legend Eddie Bravo as he prepares us for the return of 4-time EBI champ Garry Tonon ahead of EBI 13 this Sunday, October 22 Live on UFC FIGHT PASS.

    Garry Tonon put on one hell of a show, if not a game post-fight speech. I doubt 10p is ever going to catch the danaher death squad in EBI, with Gordon Ryan saying he want to tackle the gi game now, and tonon moving on to MMA, it would seem that ship has sailed.

    On another note, Vagner Rocha has a mean game from the back. He gave Nathan Orchard a hell of a time.

    I did not know that this existed, now i am intrigue.

    Yeah, Eddie Bravo started this tournament and the original concept was submission only, and in overtime you alternate one fighter starting in a bad position. He was trying to end this whole positional points fighting era we've seen dominate jiu jitsu.

    So, after some time the discussion of how striking changes jiu jitsu led to combat jiu jitsu. Standing is grappling only but once it hits the ground, open hand palm strikes are allowed. It changes everything once you have to defend strikes, and also the balance and base of the person throwing strikes can lead to more sweeps and submission set ups. They wanted it to be somewhat close to mma.

    This card tonight has two fights like that I believe but the next card is a 16 man tourney, all combat jiu jitsu fights.

    Definitely changed the game. EBI is included with your UFC fight pass subscription but they also have it on ppv now I believe.

    Striking really change the game, i will watch some fights, is very intresting what Eddie did there . It will be a lot more challangeing for the fighters and also entertaining for some of the viewrs, becaus there are many viewers that prefer the clasic jiu-jitsu. :)
