You are absolutely right. I always compare upvotes to "like" on Facebook and "double tap" on IG. Sometimes we forget that steemit is first a social media before it is a platform that rewards creativity. People are mostly about rewards. Whereas getting rewards ain't bad, it is also good to show someone that you really love the post they put up by just upvoting. It costs nothing. Stop looking at reputation before you upvote.
