Velve, the parent of game content providers, Steam has launched its Steam Chat system last June in beta format. Starting today, these features can already be enjoyed by wider gamers.

Some features are brought in such as group conversations, adding friends, multiple channels, voice mail support, and multimedia inline.

Through Steam Chat, users can also share GIFs and video links, sort friends by favorites and create groups based on games and groups.

Steam Chat is Velve's new step to rival the popular gaming chat app, Discord. Discord used gamers to chat with each other, see which groups are online, invite them to voice channels, and invite to play.

After this release, Valve still promises future feature updates.
"(Features) of friends and chats is the beginning. Updates are being worked on using the new interface framework and include some important architectural enhancements," Velve wrote in his blog.

They added that the upgrade helps them continue to provide Web-based Steam component updates.

Velve says that user feedback is highly expected to improve the user experience of this chat system.
