Close encounters with whales

The quest of every Steemit citizen.
To be noticed by the whales,
To be appreciated for contributory content, which enhances the Steemit experience.

This account was opened in September 2016 but I did not know the account was successfully created and discovered it was functional many months later.

Rather than waste this corner of the Steemit World, I decided to try and make it work.

Without the support of other Steemians it can be really difficult to make a reasonable return on Steemit and I sympathise with the many who see this great opportunity to generate additional and usually much needed income, but faced with the difficulties of finding devout followers who will consistently vote for your content.

Everyone has time restrictions along with voting power restrictions and cannot support everyone else. Is is often difficult therefore, to find a way to make an impression on content readers so that they will want to include your contributions in their pool of daily perusal.

It is especially difficult for those who struggle with language barriers, technically challenged individuals, those not familiar with chat rooms and their protocols.

There are instructions all over Steemit on how to be successful but most people find it difficult to get a foot squarely in the door and produce a reasonable return.

I guess, at the end of the day, the key to success is ones ability to sell oneself to one's audience.

I am reminded of Dale Carnegie's "How to win friends and influence people" and other wise writings which advise us that only by losing oneself in the service of others, can one find one's own life, purpose and real rewards.

I suppose this implies that success on Steemit should be best achieved by working out how to make the most valuable contribution, devoting considerable effort to the task of producing such content, both in posts and comments, and persevering, come Hell or High water.

I remember reading of one Steemian who was forced to turn to Steemit by his inability to reacquire gainful employment and facing failure in supporting his family.

He decided to treat Steemit as a job and put 8 hours a day into determining exactly what was required to emulate successful Steemians and then put that knowledge to work.

He found that within a week, he had formulated a sound set of principles and a plan of action and was generating enough income to support his family in that short time.

As with anything in life, if it is too easy, then the reward becomes negligible, but where there is difficulty, there is opportunity to strive and do, what most are not prepared to do, and thereby make the a contribution worthy of reward.

Ultimately we are to reap what we sow.

I hope those who really have need, are able to follow a similar path, and succeed, where most of us will fail.
