Just an idea I've had, I have a small amount of SP and I'm really not crazy adamant about voting at any specific times, nor do I restrict myself anymore to majorily voting on posts that I think will be popular, which is nice. I just follow who I enjoy and upvote them when I come online throughout the day reading as I go.
I only bring this up because I'm not doing anything in particular that's overwhelming or exhausting or even special, shit I don't strategize at all anymore with voting. I'm merely enjoying steemit, voting as I go, and I'm still making over 50SP in steem power. There was a time when I was making over 200 being ridiculously adement when the feed first started working, then I slowed down but making over 100 is still achievable. That being said, I feel like my curation rewards could stand taking a hit.
I Don't See Why Not...
I'm not sure if this will be popular or be down voted or if it will pass by unnoticed, but I feel like the curation rewards are something that could be tweaked to help hasten the distribution of SP towards minnows. That is basically steemit's only issue in my opinion, is there was a very big distribution to a very small amount of people. I'm not saying scam or anything, I'm loyal as fuck, I have yet to cash out anything, but I am saying a bigger reward pool for minnow voters would help to incentivize both new user signup and a higher level of curation from those new users.
So My Proposal
I see no reason why anyone with over 10,000 SP can't be giving up a percentage of their curation rewards to everyone under 10,000 SP, distributing a higher percent to the lower minnows and a smaller percentage working our way up to the limit. I personally feel like giving up 20% but obviously that's just my opinion, maybe 10% or 15% starting at 10,000 SP? Really I'm just shooting a rough idea I've been mulling around for a while. I believe the biggest whales could be donating up to perhaps 35-40% (again I'm very ok with giving up 20% so I feel like 40% would be acceptable to ask, if that pisses you off I apologize lol) to the minnows curation pool.

I truly believe this could help steemit and this is one of the areas where I think we could spare some rewards. It would be a personal choice of all the Dolphins and whales in the community, or a forced change lol (kidding), but I think this could really help steemit and up the interest factor to new adoptors. I also think the allocation of author to voter rewards are fine, so I think tweaking that area is pointless. Maybe people are unhappy with that area but I currently think its perfectly acceptable.
Anyways thats just my thoughts for steemit and improvement for the minnows. I would love some responses on this from everyone just to know if I'm out to lunch with this idea or not so drop me a line, let me know what you think.

Edit I should add I'm not looking for a big payout here, it's just an idea I've been thinking about for a couple weeks now. Post only took like an hour and it's just some personal thoughts, so if ned, Dan, or smooth do read this, or any other whales and you guys think it's shit. Yeah like, the 'Pay me in 100% steam power'. It could be another box to tick, but it only seems cool to me if it's voluntary.
Oh cool, totally not what I was talking about, this is basically your own unique idea. I like it, make a button with a little slider where someone can pick a percent to send to the minnow pool. Or even back to the curators who voted on that specific post itself, so let's say someone decided to donate 100% of the posts earnings, and someone voted on the post within the first minute, I wonder where the sp would go? I'm assuming unless it was rewritten a little that might cause issues in the code lol. But like I said I think yours is a great idea as well, I was talking about giving up a portion of my curation rewards, I make like 40-60SP every week just from voting, I figured I and every other dolphin and whale could probably spare a little from the curation rewards to help minnows grow.
I just know while I'm making 50SP weekly from voting alone there are minnows making next to nothing while actively voting. I think we could give them a little more and I think out of the bigger players curation rewards would be an excellent place to take a little from to reallocate.

I have thought of this and I don't see it changing anything too much. We already have a ton of bots, we already have extra accounts, people are using multiple accounts, I don't see that increasing to much or outside of the norm from increasing the overall spread of curation rewards to minnows. I just see this as a way to help the distribution of steem move faster, and like I said in the post, I really feel like the massive amount of steem held by a few is truly the biggest hurdle to overcome right now.
It's also fun actually getting rewarded, where as right now, if someone is a minnow, you basically have to look 2 or 3 decimal places to see their rewards. That sucks, that's why I think actually making something from curating (since not everyone wants to be an author, but voting is a lot easier and will be done by far more people) that can be seen, and actually make a difference to a minnow's SP would be a huge moral booster and really encourage participation. And I don't wanna take away from author rewards, and this is one place where I feel making 60SP every week from curating alone, is overpaying Me. So I figured why not ask and see if anyone else feels they make a little extra that they wouldn't mind contributing to the minnows of steemit.
