Steemit Mainstream?
Before I dive into the changes that steemit needs let's address some of the downsides:
My idea of how to fix the issues
I’m sure we all know about Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. They all do one thing very well, Facebook has a huge following, twitter does short posts, Instagram does pictures, and finally YouTube does videos. They are all talked about by people in the news at your local Starbucks but who talks about WordPress? It feels as if Steemit is WordPress since the only people who are talking about WordPress are people who actively use WordPress.
Steemit is a wonderful platform, because of the revolutionary idea of getting paid for posting. So to solve the problem it is important to keep what makes steemit so revolutionary.Some of the work is laready done as shown in the link below.

That’s right that is a token that can be used by everyone on steemit.
Okay where am I taking this…
This is half of the solution, if everyone started with the same pocket tokens then everyone would have an equal say. Yes, I know this is sort of like delegation however there is twist. What if everyone’s “pocketpower” remained constant no matter how much pocket tokens that account had? This would insure that everyone KEEPS an equal say.
But here is the other half!
What if let’s say pocket tokens could only be used for “pocketposts”. Like those of Facebook twitter, and Instagram. Pocketposts are backed by the pocket token which is backed by the steem token and have some limitations. Pocketposts could be limited in their wordcount like twitter, they also would only get pocket tokens within a day. In addition, pocket users cannot upvote themselves and if it is a picture some pocket tokens are returned so that the server does not go crazy. Avoiding bots would be difficult but pocket tokens wouldn’t be profitable to bot (I think).
Pockets would be based on the amount of upvotes regardless of pocketpower. To avoid spam the same system of losing steempower per upvote would be used except after 50 upvotes the amount will become zero until the next day. However, since views count as a small amount of pocket tokens it would also help the users if you simply viewed the content.
Notice how Youtube was left out of the discussion and that is because making videos takes effort so the pay should be along the same as making a blog like on Steemit. That and because it already exists:
Now that the issues are fixed how does steemit get millions of users?
Like the other social media platforms there should be a way to share to steem. This can get users involved without having them change their habits. Any post originating from an external site can be a pocketpost. Thus, there needs to be applications that convert posts from other sources to a pocketpost.
