I just got my very own Steemit t-shirt!
Checking my mailbox tend to be a very dull activity where I either just get spam mail, or bills that I need to pay. However, after ordering a Steemit t-shirt two weeks ago, checking my mail to see if a package had arrived became a lot more exciting.
Anyway, it was waiting in my mailbox when I came home yesterday, and I wanted to post about it, but since it's so dark here in Norway now, I decided to wait until today in order to take a picture with better lightning. Anyway, I think the shirt looks really great, and I'm very happy about the purchase.
How I got the Steemit t-shirt
One of the cool things about the t-shirt is that it is not all that easy to get your hands on one. There was only made 100 copies of this design, and they used to be sold by @babsboard a little while back. I never took it upon myself to order one, and before I knew it they had stopped with the orders, and it was too late to buy one.
However, two weeks ago @onebitnews had teamed up with @babsboard and got 5 more t-shirts that they wanted to sell. @onebitnews is a magazine that publishes exclusively on Steemit, and they create a lot of good content. They will post a new magazine sometime tonight (probably in a few hours from now), and they also award good comments like I do, so check it out!
The price for one t-short including shipping was 30 Steem, at that time worth around $200. That's not cheap for a t-shirt by any means!
The cool part about buying something from at @babsboard is that you get cashback in the form of upvotes. Here's how it works:
- I order something (in this case a t-shirt) by writing a comment.
- @babsboard (or in this case @onebitnews) confirms the purchase.
- I send the Steem to them.
- They upvote my purchasing comment, and send me the thing I bought!
Up close look at the logo. It looks very good on the print.
What is really cool is that due to the high value of the SBD, my comment got a reward that was higher than what I paid for the t-shirt. In total I got paid 47 Steem from the comment after having converted SBD to Steem, so I made a 17 Steem profit on buying this t-shirt. That's not a bad deal at all!
Here is the original post where I made the purchase. A lot of it is in Norwegian, but some users also post in English.
The Certificate of Authenticity that came along with the t-shirt.
Steem and Steemit has such a huge potential
It's really cool to see that my Steem got turned into a physical object, and not only did I purchase it entirely with Steem, the comment that was used for the purchase even made me profit from it! This goes to show just how much potential the Steem blockchain has when it comes to trade, so let's never forget that it is so much more than a platform for blogging on!
Thanks for reading about my t-shirt. Make sure to check out @onebitnews who partnered up with @babsboard to sell this nice t-shirt, and join the @onebitnews community.
Below is a new piece of information I plan on including in all my future posts, but I might change it a bit. Let me know if you guys think this is a good thing to include, but keep in mind that it is aimed at people who see my posts for the very first time.

@valth i would have thought you would hbe went for a hoodie or something warmer for the cold climates of Norway :)
Congratulations on your new T-shirt!!
Haha, that's a good point! T-shirts were the only thing they sold, but a hoodie would actually be really nice. There's no way I'm not going to be wearing a lot of cloths over the t-shirt considering the fact that it is -10 degrees Celsius here. Hmm, maybe I should order one of these hoodies from The Steemit Shop.
Ha ha ha yes. I bet it is cold in Norway. I have the opposite problem its too hot for a
Hoodie here, well maybe not at night time just now. Its a little chilly at night just now. But yes that hoodie looks cool, would definitely be a worthy purchase!!
!
I'm so jealous of that weather! It is about 40 degrees hotter for you these days.
Yes that’s the problem when you travel anywhere from here it’s always colder and you need to make sure you have plenty warm clothes with you. I think if i came to Norway i would need 20 layers on or I’d be an icicle lol.
Hehe, that's true! But you need more like 3 or 4 layers and you'll be fine, as long as one of them is made from wool :)
haha yes I have been there, done that and got the T-Shirt lol
When i went back home to Scotland a few years ago i was wearing a tshirt, shirt, jumper, jacket and hat Scarf and gloves. and i had the car heater on full blast and was still cold
Haha, that's how it is, especially when you've gotten used to the warmth of a warmer country!
First of all i am excited and happy for you that you got a steemit T-shirt and secondly i am happy for you that you got it for nothing like you mentioned you got profit ,,,I hope its look more cool on you when you wear it ]..And of course i will check @onebitnews ...Enjoy your happiness @valth :)
And i want to ask something about Norway but its night here i will discuss it with you later :) Thanks for sharing your excitement with us :)
And one more thing i was waiting for your post the whole day :)
Thanks! Just ask about Norway any time :)
Hopefully it will be ready soon! It took a little while longer than I wanted to today, because I've been very busy.
Velkommen i klubben 😎
Takk for det, @nippel66!
It is so great, enjoy it!
So Steemit may will become a online shopping center? I think it should be good idea :)
Thanks! Yeah, it would be amazing to see more online shopping vendors here in Steemit. It is very easy to pay with Steem, so there's a huge potential here!
And I thought those free giveaway t-shirts I got some years ago were a good deal.. But earning SBD for buying a T-shirt is even better! Enjoy your shirt!
Thanks! Yeah, this was even better than getting it for free. Who knows how much those 17 Steem will be worth in some months from now? :)
Who knows, maybe in some years we won't be talking about the bitcoin pizza guy anymore, but about the guy who was paid 17 SBD (which will be a fortune!) for ordering a T-Shirt :D
Haha, that would be cool! :)
First of all congratulation to have a limited edition T-shirt. 30 Steem is too much price for the shirt, but if you are aware of tactics, you may earn. Thanks for sharing all the tactics. It's so nice of you to care your followers. Personally in my 2 cent opinion, 30 Steem is too much. Majority of people donot have 30 steem in their wallet and the rules seem to favor people who keep a lot of steem. It's just like money attracts more money:) any way thanks for the idea. Cheers
Thank you!
Yes, I do agree with you on that. When I first discovered Steem(it) I expected it to be a place where we were all equals, and everyone had the opportunity to make money. However, after staying here for a year and a half, I have realized the same as you; it's much easier to make money if you already got money. I believe that people with much Steem Power has a much higher chance to gain followers and get upvotes than those without it. I guess it's really important to have rich friends here on Steemit.
It's so cool that you got 47 Steem for your comment, the t-shirt practically paid for itself.
Yeah, exactly! I made a nice profit from the trade ;)
Need to frame it😂✌️👍 way to go.
Hehe, I was actually considering to do that!
This is interesting way to do business. I don't understand how they make money though.
They make money because I sent them 30 Steem for the t-short :)
But you said you make money too.... so it really could be a win-win in Steemit? lol . I can't get my head around it.
Yes, because the comment I used to order with was upvoted so that I made more money than I spent on the shirt.
i need one ... i think i will have to make one .. happy fo u
Hehe, yeah, you should make one for yourself :)
