Thoughts on copyright & the STEEMIT blockchain

Decentralisation in general tends to promote plagerism or copyright infringement. That is if you believe the current model for copyright is effective in any way shape or form.
The dplatforms in general DO NOT offer any form of copyright protection save for the agreement you sign but if you look on dtube for example you can find neumerous examples of fairly obvious "copyright infringement."
Bare in mind that we are working with in a TRUSTLESS SYSTEM. This means that there is no real way to prevent copyright infringement, Ultimately the concept of copyright in this space does have to be addressed differently as if you put material up then there is potential for that work to be downloaded then reworked with no form of consent given.
Dsound/dtube use a system called IPFS, This system allows you to download any works to your local drive with out any need for direct access.
THIS MEANS THAT YOUR WORK CAN BE TAKEN BY ANYONE! If your concern is your artistic work is being stolen or used for something unintended then the answer is simple, don't put that work on these platforms. Personally if someone wants to use my work for something I'm usually more than happy and increably flattered by the nod as long as I am given credit.
If you want to use decentralised systems then your complaint about plagerism or copyright infringment should ultimately be reexamined.
There are plenty of systems out there for copyright protection and the one thing they all have in common is they give central control to one person or entity, This presents an issue as in most forms of copyright law there is an exception for what's called "fair use." However most entities will not look at this as a presentable argument as they are for more concerned with the risk to their brand than any kind of work that might have been put in.
Any system using the steem blockchain is ultimately community driven. So the community needs to come to some sort of consensus on what they consider acceptable. But more importantly an understanding of the platforms you use onchain to distribute your creative works is crucial so that reasonable expectations are set.

Too each their own. I see huge advantages to copyright being more open sorce in a space such as this one. Centralised platforms still have issues such as unrealistic expectations of what fair use is.
For me personally it´s central, that my own published works won´t be misused..... ;-)
So I´m a fan of copyrights (cause that´s the money for an artist)
By the way, dTube is full of malware and bad codes in the background !!!!!!!!!! Highly dangerous (my firewall is blocking it)
i'd imagine that's largely due to the ipfs system. you're connecting to nodes rather than central servers. Firewalls tend to be fairly broad sweeping with anything that requires a new or unreconised code or protocols. ipfs is new and largely untested but that doesnt mean that its dangerous, just an unknown and firewalls don't like things they don't recognise
